We would like to start this article by saying thank you to every player that supports the game. After releasing Dark & Light, we have received tons of feedback and we are extremely grateful for it. We want to keep on working to improve the game with every update, while using Community feedback as much as possible.
That being said, we would like to clarify a few things about the past, the present with Dark & Light and the future of MMEG.
Roadmap changes and late game features
Back in April, we decided to share a roadmap showcasing all the content that would be coming in the next months. The goal was simply being completely transparent with the Community and sharing our plans in order to receive as much feedback as possible. M&M: Elemental Guardians was built partially based on Community needs, and we have always wanted our player base to be a part of the production process.
We wanted to shed some light on the second part of the Guild system rework that we announced back in the day. We are aware that veteran players were looking forward to this feature, and we believed that it was what the game needed in that moment. The reality is, plans change, and they change based on many variables. In this case, we analyzed the data available and we found out that only a very small percentage of the players get to reach Guilds. The first game experience wasn´t helping new players to onboard and enjoy the game, and therefore we decided to allocate more resources on it.
We were happy with the performance of the first part of the Guild rework that we implemented in June, but as stated above, we had to make a choice and we decided to focus on first experience.
We still believe however that providing a great experience for veteran players is as important as making the game attractive for new players. That is why we haven’t given up on end/late-game features. they are necessary and we really want to make them happen in due time.
In the last blogpost, we announced an Infinite Turns nerf that should come with a rebalancing of the content. We have decided to put on hold these changes due to the number of new creatures, spells and game mechanics introduced in the last update. We are looking at how the new creatures adapt to the game and affect the meta, and we will take decisions based on that moving forward. We would like to make very clear that this is still a priority for the team.
With Dark and Light released, the team will focus immediately in bugs and issues that popped up after deploying the patch. Moving forward we will keep on working on future updates, balancing and features. We cannot provide however a roadmap at this point, but we will periodically share updates on the progress of the game.
